Minister, Rev. Dr. Althea Smith
Rev. Althea has been our minister since August 2025 and has brought with her a broad range of life experiences in healthcare leadership and both community and parish ministry. Rev. Althea’s ministry is deeply rooted in social justice, compassionate pastoral care, community involvement, and shared ministry. She served most recently as minister of the Nantucket UU church. Music Director, Jan Navarro
As Music Director Jan is responsible for the music program at Channing: planning the music, playing the piano at Sunday services, directing and accompanying the Choir, playing for weddings and memorial services. Jan has been with Channing since 2023. Email: music@channingchurch.org
Administrator: Annie
If you call the church phone on weekdays (9am-2pm) or send an email to office@channingchurch.org, you’re likely to be greeted by Annie, our church administrator. As the Administrator, she manages the church office, edits the Catalyst, prepares the weekly order of service and annual report, maintains the congregation events calendar and buildings-use scheduling, maintains church membership information, and supports the annual stewardship campaign. She also maintains the church Facebook page and assists with the maintenance and update of the church’s website.
Sexton, Pat Padillia
Pat joined the staff as Sexton in 1996. He is responsible for the general upkeep and cleaning of the church buildings and grounds.
